What is BookLock?
BookLock is an iPhone reading tracker that helps you swap scrolling for reading. It locks distracting apps while you read, times your reading sessions, and tracks the pages you read, how long you read and a Focus Score.
Which devices does BookLock work on?
BookLock is an iPhone app and needs iOS 18.0 or later. It is not available on Android, and there is no separate iPad version.
How much does BookLock cost?
BookLock is free to download, with in-app purchases. BookLock Premium unlocks advanced tracking, a customizable Distraction Shield and iCloud sync across your devices. On the US App Store (checked 24 September 2026) the in-app purchases listed are: Weekly $4.99, Annual $9.99, Annual $39.99. Prices vary by country; the price shown in the app before you buy is the one that applies.
How does the app lock work?
When you start a reading session, BookLock uses Apple's Screen Time controls to block distracting apps until the session ends, so you can read without interruptions. With Premium you can customize which apps the Distraction Shield blocks.
How long is a reading session?
You choose. Set a timed reading goal, whether that is a quick 10-minute session or an hour-long deep dive, and BookLock's timer and reminders keep you on track.
What is the Focus Score?
The Focus Score is a score BookLock gives you based on your consistency and engagement across reading sessions. You see it alongside the pages you read and your session times.
How do I add my books?
Scan a book's barcode or search by title to add it to your reading list, then organize your books with the Not Started, In Progress and Completed filters.
Does BookLock have widgets?
Yes. BookLock has Home Screen widgets and a Live Activity in the Dynamic Island that show your reading progress.
How do I cancel a subscription or ask for a refund?
Purchases are handled by Apple. To cancel, open the Settings app on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose BookLock. Refund requests go to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
